Psalms 1:1-6 MSG
1 How well God must like you— you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.
2 Instead you thrill to GOD’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night.
3 You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.
4 You’re not at all like the wicked, who are mere windblown dust—
5 Without defense in court, unfit company for innocent people.
6 GOD charts the road you take. The road they take is Skid Row.
I guess I have always known that I was different than my peers. In school I was not the most popular, or the smartest, and definitely not the one with the most Braun.
During my high school years I wasn’t out hanging with the crowd, going out to all hours of the night. I only had one girlfriend through those years. Being vulgar was not me. Showing disrespect was not in my character.
The adage, ‘behind every good man is a woman’. I truly believe this, but maybe it should be said like this, ‘behind every good man is a Godly woman’. For which I had two behind me. My mother and my maternal grandmother.
Both were women who to the best of their ability lived Godly lives. I cannot ever remember either using a cuss word. My grandmother was one who trusted God and raised seven children to do the same. So it is of no surprise that my mother was the same.
These two women gave me a legacy, not of money, buildings, but a legacy of faith in God and a knowledge of the Scriptures.
If every one would leave a legacy of faith in God and a knowledge of the Scriptures this world that we live in would be a different place.
Yes, it is nice to leave your children and your children’s children some type of financial gift, but that is not the riches that are eternal. Christ gave us a commandment to lay up our treasures in things that are above, not on things that will rust and decay.
Yes, we can be the difference in someone else’s life. It is time to be that difference. Start today.
