* I was in the middle of writing the second part of “The High Cost of Living”. A couple of days ago I woke up with this hymn playing in my mind:
In Times Like These
Verse 1
In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One;
This Rock is Jesus, The only One!
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid rock!
As I have stated I learned to sing Gospel songs as a young child. I have sang those songs all of my life, played them on the piano and on the organ. I turn to these songs when it seems I need something to comfort me, just like some turn to certain foods for comfort.
There are times like the old country song seems appropiate also:
“Stop the world and let me off,
I’m tired of spinning round and round”
Sometimes as I listen to all of news around the world and in my own country of Canada it feels like everything and everyone have lost their mind. One gets the impression that goal posts have been moved, the rules tossed out, and it is everyone man for himself.
God gave us in His infinite wisdom something man cannot, God’s sure word.
2 Timothy 2:19 MSG
19 Meanwhile, God’s firm foundation is as firm as ever, these sentences engraved on the stones: GOD KNOWS WHO BELONGS TO HIM. SPURN EVIL, ALL YOU WHO NAME GOD AS GOD.Romans 3:4 MSG
4 Not on your life! Depend on it: God keeps his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same: Your words stand fast and true; Rejection doesn’t faze you.
I have been giving a lot of thought on the subject of revival. In the past several days I believe I have had it wrong. There is something that first must happen to see God sent revival in the land. That something there must be a hunger and thirst for God and His righteousness.
It is found in the words of Christ during his sermon on the mount.
Matthew 5:6 MSG
6 “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
We know that God will never force himself on a person. As one preacher put it, “God is a gentleman”. The reason is God when he created man he gave them the power of choice, freewill.
I am not sure what it will take for people to become hungry for God and His righteousness. The time period that we call the “grace dispensation” is coming to a close. Then God turns His focus back on His first choice, the nation of Israel.
I believe there will have to rise up some of God’s servants that will stand in the breach and speak God’s Word to create a hunger, thirst, in the people who hear. It may come down to the wire.
It is my belief we are just one major event away before we see a total shake up in the world governments, economies, when the son of perdition is revealed.
Things that most Christians take for granite may soon be stripped away to make a way for a false religion to be installed globally, the worship of the beast mentioned in the last Book of the Bible, Revelation.
It is most likely that it will get worse before it ever gets better.
So, let me finish like I started,
In Times Like These
Verse 1
In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One;
This Rock is Jesus, The only One!
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid rock!
