Hebrews 6: New Century Version (NCV)
18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he makes a promise, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. These things encourage us who came to God for safety. They give us strength to hold on to the hope we have been given.
Shifting sands, the change in the tide, governments, rulers, and of course man. Yet, there is one thing we can count on not changing is God himself.
As a Christian that is the bedrock of our life in Christ, that is, God never changes. His character has never waivered, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And that is something we can count on and anchor our ship on the sea of life.
Yes, some would try to make us have doubt about this solid fact. They make statements like, ‘God is dead’, or ‘He doesn’t care about us’, ‘He does not listen to our prayer’. To give in to any of those things that cause us to lose faith in the absolute of God never changes threatens to cause our whole foundation to shake and to crumble.
Our faith is totally founded on this absolute the God never changes. He made us that promise and we can rest assure He will keep His’ word.
In a world filled with chaos, hatred, division, war, famine, and other depressing events, it is great to be able to turn to one thing we as a child of God, that is God Himself who we know beyond any doubt is always the same, yesterday, today, and forever.
Doubt is the greatest enemy of the Christian life for it tries to destroy our foundational truths outlined in the Word of God. Doubt brings along it’s close relative fear. Fear is the complete corrosive enemy to our Faith in God. Both doubt and fear if allowed to take root in our Christian life will eventually destroy the absolutes of the Christian life.
The absolute that God never changes is our anchor when the storms of life are raging. Fellow Christian place all your Christian life in the hands of one who is stedfast, sure, and unwavering.
