Mat 24:3-14 KJV
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
1Th 5:1-3 KJV
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1975 was a landmark moment in my life. It was Easter weekend, Sunday night the pastor stood up and announced that it was laid upon his heart to bring a very strange message, “Prepare to meet Your God”!. Remember, it’s Easter Sunday night a night where most Pastors subject would have been concentrated on the story of Christ’s resurrection.
The next morning, Monday, I woke up and went downstairs and found it was late in the morning. My parents were no where to be found. Within moments they walked in along with my aunt, mom’s sister. I looked at them and none of them looked well. I found out that morning my grandfather died of a massive heart attack while at work during the night. I cannot explain of how I felt, except that, my whole world was gone.
My grandfather was my world, he was the only musician in our little church, he played the guitar. He was the one that taught us kids how to sing songs without any words written down. To a thirteen year old boy this was my first up close taste of death of a close love one. To say I was angry was an under statement. You see I did not know what God had planned for me several years in my near future.
It was tough going at that little church, no musician, and I was learning to play the accordian, so try as hard as I could I would try to play for the song service. I wanted to play the piano, a piano then that was worth nothing, a piano that when I would try my grandfather would tell me ‘don’t touch it it is out of tune’. Many Sunday nights I would leave that piano in tears because all I could hear was the words of my grandfather. Eventually, through many circumstances I was given a piano of my own from my girl friends parents because they were moving. That was the start of my miracle.
I have never really shared this story in this part, but, I feel I should share this part to bring home my thought. My grandmother was a praying woman, there was much turmoil in the family at that time and it was starting to wear on my grandmother. After all was said and done quite sometime later she shared this. This turmoil was getting worse, my grandmother one night prayed a very simple prayer, “Lord, remove the stumbling block”. You know the story for I had just shared it.
There is a movement around the world, on the surface it feels good, sounds good, and there really there is no upfront argument against it. The word “Peace”. On the big picture when you say it everyone is for it.
Yet, the outcry around the world for peace according to Scriptures brings about a world wide calamity, destruction.
We know that a man, the son of perdition, arrives on the global scene, makes a peace treaty with the nation of Israel, but, will break in the middle of the seven years. This is the beginning of the ‘great tribulation’. Christians know the rest of the story.
So, peace, be careful for what you pray for!
