Thoughts In Passing…

“Before you embark on a journey of revengedig two graves.”

Confucius

Relax, this is not about death, nor is it a sermon… lol

Today it struck me like someone punched me in the head.  The volume of hate, animosity, and an unquenchable thirst for revenge.  I do not know what brought that person to that point, but it couldn’t have been a healthy one.

A close relative of mine was experiencing severe digestion problems.  No matter how careful they ate the discomfort continue.  Finally, relenting, they saw a specialist.  The specialist shocked the person by asking “what is eating you”?, notice he did not ask, “what are you eating”?

Another relative of mine is so full of hate and revenge.  He lashes out and wants to beat people up.  Lives pretty well with no close relatives in contact.

Hating people is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat. Henry Emerson Fosdick – https://www.wiseoldsayings.com/hate-quotes/

I did not have a very happy childhood, but early in my twenties I had to make a choice, hate those who I felt did me an injustice, or just leave them behind and move forward.

I think about my grandchildren, the world they are about to inherit, I shudder to think if they can survive in such a hateful, bitter, cold, society.  A society where pulling the trigger is the first thing someone thinks of when they perceive they have been done wrong.

It would be easy for me to just say “forgive”.  I know for ninety-nine percent that is an abrasive thought.  I get it, abuse, physical, emotional, sexual, all there with their stench permanently etched on their souls for life.

I can hear the righteous sanctimonious declare,”you must have asked for it”, “God is teaching you a lesson”.  Let me state emphatically, take that back to where you found it and keep your mouth shut.  Those statements do not lend themselves to healing, they just add wounds upon the deep wounds one is already bearing in their soul.

I cannot expect someone to walk in my shoes, for they have their own shoes to walk in.  Their journey does not resemble my journey.  The things that worked in me, just may mess things up for them.

Let me say thank you to the one who stirred me up to write this post, President Donald J. Trump!
